-Layers: Maps use overlapping layers to separate different layers of data. Layers create a sensation of time/narrative. Printing techniques use multiple layers of ink to build a single image.

Collage: Derives from the french word "Papier Collé" used to describe techniques of cut-outs, can include other medias -Painting/drawing
How is this important to CART students? Every digital object can be manipulated rendered new again.
Transparency: Making something clearer/ hide more then reveal. There is also digital transparency.
